Development
The development of the house mouse goes very fast. On average female mice aging from 2 – 12 months give birth to 6 – 10 litters. Gestation period is 3 weeks. On average 5 – 6 young for each nest. Nursing period is 3 weeks. Young are sexually mature after 2 months. Maximum age is circa 2 years.
Way of living
Excellent climbers, they jump up to circa 30 cm and from a height that is circa 1 metre. Omnivore with a clear preference for grains. Eats circa 3 – 5 grams a day. House mice can survive a few days without water. Some condensation is sufficient to them.
Damage
To survive they have to keep their continuouslygrowingincisors in shape by gnawing constantly. They do this, for example, by gnawing electric cables. Because of this house mice are often the cause of machine failures or a fire caused by short circuit. Mice can carry several contagious diseases, like paratyphoid fever and several kinds of food poisoning bacteria (salmonella). However, the greatest damage is caused by ‘gnawing’ your carefully acquired reputation.
Prevention
Prevent junk corners (hiding-places). Prevent food supply as much as possible. Close litterbins properly. Openings up to a maximum of 0.5 centimetres wide.
Pest control
The EKO1000-system is the most effective, safest and most hygienic solution to control rats and mice.
